We have a new reality in the music industry today. The new music consumer no longer looks at music as a commodity to purchase, but more as something they have unlimited access to. This has affected the whole industry but nowhere is it more evident then with the Independent Artist!
During the 90’s the independent artist had the opportunity to take over the distribution of their music and have all the revenue come directly to them. CD Sales were still brisk, download sales were starting and was a windfall revenue stream for the indie artist. Today those streams are drying up and now the Indie Artist must depend on touring and performing live as their main income stream.
