The opening title track “The Blues Is Still Alive” features special guest Walter Trout on lead guitar as Will sings “Some say the blues belong in history, a music of the past, some think the blues are just a melody, a style that won’t last, I say the blues are a feeling we all get from time to time, as I look around the world today, it’s clear, the blues is still alive”. On “Wild Man” Will chimes “Well they call me the wild man, I’ve come to play here in your town, all the women they go crazy, when the wild man comes around”.
“Don’t Play With Fire” sports the lyric “Don’t you play with fire baby, ‘cos you know that you’ll get burned, don’t you mess with my heart woman, or there’s gonna be some lessons learned”. “Gypsy Woman” is a melody reminiscent of St. James Infirmary, as Will chants “Tell me gypsy woman, tell me how it’s going to be, look in your crystal ball, what kind of future do you see for me”. “Trouble Of That Girl” includes Will singing “Soon I will be done with the trouble of that girl…gonna find me someone new, there’ll be no more cheating and lying…when I find someone new”.
“Stole My Love”, “You stole my love from me, and left me with my heart in pain, it hurt so bad, you act like you don’t know my name”. On “Girl’s Got Soul” Will croons “She works hard all day long selling groceries at the store, she comes home late at night and then she heads back out once more, she wears a real short skirt, comes way above her knees, she’s heading to the juke joint ‘cos she knows that’s where I’ll be, girl’s got soul, don’t you know it’s plain to see, when she’s out on the dance floor, it’s the only place to be”.
“Learn How To Love” includes Will as he belts out “You’re way down deep in the shallows with a selfish heart too cold to hold, you think it’s all about you girl, but you know you’re not the only one…I just about had enough”. “Broken Dream Blues”, “My dreams have all been broken baby, and I’ve got no hope inside”. On the closer, “Don’t Trust Me” Will sings “No don’t trust me, don’t believe a word I say, If I tell you that I love you girl, turn and run the other way”.
Will Wilde is a prolific singer-songwriter, and harmonica maestro. His unique approach infuses each track with a fiery energy and passion that makes this a bold statement. The “Blues Is Still Alive” and it’s in good hands, the hands of Will Wilde.
