Boston born Tyler Morris began playing guitar at the age of ten. Influenced by his father he started playing in blues clubs a year later. He released his debit recording 2015’s “And So It Begins” when he was only fifteen. The next year he followed up with “The Chaos Continues”. Our youngest guitar Phenom is also a pianist, songwriter and producer. He released his third album “Next In Line” in 2018, and it made it to the Top Ten of the Billboard Blues Charts. This new album “Living In The Shadows” marks his debut as lead singer.
Produced by Mike Zito at his Marz Studio in Nederland, Texas it features members of The Mike Zito Band; including bassist Terry Dry, drummer Matthew Johnson, and keyboardist Lewis Stephens. Zito states “Tyler Morris is a very serious contender in the new world domination of Blues Rock Guitar players. He is fired up and fierce for a young man. His depth of musical knowledge knows no bounds and he is just coming into his own voice. Tyler will help bring back the glory of Electric Guitar to the masses.”
Six of the eleven songs are written by Morris. On “Young Man’s Blues” he joined by Ronnie Earl, a four-time Blues Music Award winning guitarist. Other songs written by Morris include the title track; “Temptation”; and “I’m On To You”. “Better Than You” co-written by Guy Hale and Producer Zito features vocalist Amanda Fish, another BMA winner.
Selected covers include Tony Joe White’s “Polk Salad Annie” featuring two more BMA winners who share the vocal, guitarist Mike Zito and the Contemporary Blues Male Artist of the Year Joe Louis Walker. Also covered are Gary Moore’s “Movin’ On”, and Don Nix’s “Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven”.
Although only twenty-one years old, Morris has already blossomed into a mature artist. This is a career defining album.
