The Tucci Band is from Sarasota Florida. They are led by Steve “Doc” Tucci. The band is well versed in R n’ B, Blues and Southern Rock. They were formerly known at The Toler Tucci Band and had previously released 2012’s “Doc’s Hideaway” on Larry McCray’s Magnolia Records. Unfortunately “Dangerous” Dan Toler who had also played with Dickey Betts & Great Southern, The Allman Brothers (1978 – 1982) and the Greg Allman Band passed away in February of 2013.

Tucci currently includes “Doc” guitars and vocals; Michael Tucci, drums; Shawn Murphy, saxophone and vocals; and Harry DeBusk, bass and vocals. Featured with the band on “Olivia” is the great guitarist and vocalist McCray who also has nine of his own recordings the last being 2015’s “The Gibson Sessions”; recently McCray headlined The 2016 Bradenton Blues Festival.  Also joining them are Donnie Richard or Dan Ryan, keyboards; vocalist Al Owen; and guitarists Ira Stanley, Bob Dielman, and the late Toler.

All of the songs were written by Tucci who also plays guitar throughout the recording. He sings lead on “Overtaxed Blues” and on “Hey Florida” both of which feature Ryan on the keyboards. “Olivia”, the title track, is sung by Murphy and features Stanley on slide. Murphy sings again on “Train Blues” and on the closer “Third Eye” on which Dielman is added on guitar.

McCray plays guitar on eight tracks and sings on “High Roller”, and “I Don’t Need It” featuring Richards on the B-3. He also sings on “Gimme Some of Your Love”, “Without You”, and “You Hurt Me” once again featuring Ryan.

Toler can be heard playing guitar on “Play By The Rules” which is sung by Owen. This is the final recording from Toler who died after a long battle with ALS also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The album is dedicated to the memory of Toler who was both a good friend and mentor.

A special CD release party is planned for Sunday July 16 at Bert’s Black Widow Harley Davidson in Port Charlotte, Florida. Tucci is a great band that will have you dancing around the showroom.
