Shinedown

Recently had the pleasure of catching Shinedown in concert opening for Godsmack and in a word, I was floored. Shinedown puts on a rock solid show that kicks A**. They were a perfect complement to the show. Circumstances prevented me from seeing the whole performance unfortunately but what I did see was absolutely amazing.

I’ll say that going in I didn’t know a lot about Shinedown and had many holes in my Shinedown Knowledge Base. The live performance made a convert out of me and digging into their catalogue has really blown away.

Went back and devoured Amaryllis & Threat to Survival before sitting down to take in Attention Attention. Completely love each and every song I heard on all three albums. It’s no surprise that they are in the top three for #1 singles on the billboard Mainstream Rock Charts.

Shinedown Live

Before I get to talkin about the CD I’d like to tell you a bit about the Shinedown’s live performance. Shinedown opened for Godsmack in Mansfield MA and put on one hard core show.

The showmanship, music, stage presence were all off the charts. I am fortunate enough to see many bands right from the photo pit which gives a real feel for the band. One thing I can really feel is when a band is loving what they do and giving it their all.

That said, I would go see Shinedown again, any day of the week.

The pyrotechnics were off the charts too and I’d like the hairs on my arm back please… But man what an awesome effect.

I’d like to send a personal thank you to Brent Smith. He did something I have never seen before from any frontman. He pretty much shook hands with each and every photographer in the pit. I give him huge props and thanks for that. Small acts tell you a lot about a person. That one tells me he is an appreciative type of person. You know, the cool type of people.

OK, bet ya thought I’d never get to talking about the new CD…

 Shinedown release “Attention Attention”

I have gone back and boned up on Shinedown’s releases and am enamored as ever. That extends to this new release.

This release starts off with the title track “Attention Attention”. A great driving rock song with a groove that will grab you from the first beat. If you can sit still during this check for a pulse.

This holds for track 2, “Black Soul” which pumps up the energy even more. This track is killer with great guitar licks from Zach.

Track 3, “Brilliant” again takes it up an intensity notch. A great anthem song. I love the message in this tune.

More incredible groove on track 4 & 5 and then track 6 just grabs you by the shoulders and shakes you back and forth. “Devil” is one of my favorite tunes on the new CD. Amazingly the next track “Evolve” ratchets it up even further. I am really impressed with the ordering on this CD. Just right.
