Sass Jordan starred in the off-broadway Janis Joplin show “Love Janis”. She also toured the world with “A Bowie Celebration”. She started her solo career with a single “Tell Somebody” in 1988 and won a JUNO award, Canada’s equivalent of our Blues Music Awards. She earned three more nominations for albums like 1992’s “Racine” (1994), “Rats” (1994), “Present” (1997), “Hot Gossip” (2000), “Get What You Give” (2006), and “Something Un to Nothing” (2011).
2020’s “Rebel Moon Blues” her first album released in the U.S. included covers of John Estes “Leaving Trunk”, Willie Dixon’s “My Babe”, Sonny Boy Williamson’s “One Way Out”, J.B. Hutto’s “Too Much Alcohol” and Leon Russell’s “Palace of the King”. Jordan also included her original “The Key”.
On her newest album “Bitches Blues” she is accompanied by harmonica ace Steve Marriner, keyboardist Jesse O’Brien, guitarists Chris Caddell and Jimmy Reid, and drummer Cassius Pereira. Jordan combines her originals “Still the World Goes Round” and “Change is Coming” with covers “Chevrolet”, “You Gotta Move” and Little Feats’ “Sailing Shoes”.
