Patricio Morales was born and raised in Chile. His heritage and musical influences are culturally prominent in these compositions. He has written and arranged every tune. The classical guitarist has lived and worked in Switzerland and Italy for over 25-years. He has made his mark as a creator of soundtracks for films and television. Additionally, he has recorded several albums. Morales earned his advanced university diploma in Music Therapy Studies from the Helvetic Music Institute in Switzerland.
In 2015, Morales relocated to the United States, after living and working in Switzerland for twenty-five years. He settled in Red Hook, New York, joining the music faculty at Mariat College and the Bard Conservatory of Music. His unique blend of jazz, folk music, world music and his classical guitar roots create an interesting and entertaining package of music.
Opening with “La Tierra Canta” (The Earth Sings), the addition of an accordion to this production brightly reflects South American musical culture. Vitor Goncalves adds his spicy accordion licks in all the right arrangement-places. The classical guitar stylings of Patricio Morales are always center stage and prominent. The combination of classical guitar and accordion makes for a lovely soundscape.
“Tale of Tales” is one of several tunes Morales composed some time ago. He has rejuvenated his original songs with fresh arrangements and the help of musicians from Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Brazil. Vitor Goncalves shows off his skills on jazz piano during his solo on “Tale of Tales.” Their arrangement is quite folksy and driven by the drums and percussion instruments.
A song called “Cancion Para Despedir A Emilla” is quite beautiful. The ballad translates to “Saying Goodbye to Emilia,” and offers a rich melody.
This is an album stuffed with Chilean culture, South American spirit, and jazzy improvisation that rejuvenates nine timeless compositions written by Patricio Morales during his early creative years. This album becomes available to the public on April 1, 2025.
