Jesus Hooligan is Stephen Brunton, former singer of the hardcore punk band Gout / Lager Louts.

After he could no longer sing live due to illness, he made the best of it and started making his own music. And with everything that you can use to make music … or that you wouldn’t even think of using it. Barrels, buckets, diesel tanks … there is nothing that standing up has not tried. When Stephen’s voice returned, he started again with a live band. Accompanied by guitarist Jason Sanders from the punk band Drinking Problem and a short time afterwards also by didgeridoo player Dave Croughan they performed with everything they enjoyed and the result was a sound somewhere between folk, punk and blues and for me simply brilliant!

Jesus Hooligan grew and gradually more musicians were added. The special thing about this band is that they don’t just stand stupidly on stage and wash down their program … no, the audience is asked here because they love to include it. That not only promises a lot of fun, it makes the whole thing familiar!

Today I would like to introduce you to Swamp Stomp, an album in three parts, the last part of which will be released this August.

Swamp Stomp and The Gospel of Swamp Stomp promise pure entertainment and anyone who expects music in the traditional sense is in the wrong place. From the first song on, the listener is taken along and it feels and sounds like fireworks. Everything that can be used to create sounds comes into its own here, didgeridoo, chains, barrels, drums and so much more.

You’d think that Jesus Hoolligan’s music might just be screaming out feelings, but that’s not true. Every song has a meaning and the lyrics can be described as soulful even if they are not whispering love songs. Jesus sings what he thinks, cheeky, self-confident and absolutely cool.

If you’ve had enough of mainstream music, you should definitely listen to these two albums and everything else that Jesus Hooligan has done so far. It is worth it! Get off the sofa and immerse yourself in something completely different, new and exciting!
