So when listening to Gypsy Willow I’m reminded how art and life experience are really one and the same. It takes a unique and special talent to combine lyrics that are meaningful and connect them music that exactly express the mood of the lyrics.
Songs like Going Home the opening track on the album a gritty blues track that talks of finding your way back to the person you really are. The country blues of Take A Breath then with Truth Be Told Jessey uses that magnificent voice of hers to show she can definitely rock it with the very best of them. In fact Jessey’s secret weapon is her voice, it’s truly unique and every sound so full of raw emotion and razor edge power.
But let’s get back to Gypsy Willow. Because this album draws from many influences. For instance Never Let You Go has a very beautiful and strong U2 vibe going through it . Bono and the boys would be very proud of this one . Then we have the Chrissy Hynde influenced “Not Sorry”
But Jessey kept the best till last with the title track Gypsy Willow telling the story of a free spirited artist playing her music across the world, and touching peoples lives wherever she goes. A beautiful swirling song so full of beauty and emotion.
