Making a Scene Presents an Interview with Ava Grace and Big Earl Matthews of Gravel and Grace
Gravel & Grace is a seven-piece Blues and R&B outfit that plays a wide range of classic covers and original songs. The band features Big Earl Matthews on vocals, Ava Grace on vocals and keyboards, Issac Lewis and Ricky Galvan on Guitar, Will Melendez on Saxophone, Josh Broom on Bass, and Ray Vazira on Drums. Drawing on a wide range of influences, they have developed a unique blend of classic and contemporary music. Their first studio album, “Gravel & Grace: Bringing the Blues”, is available now for purchase and streaming.
Ava Grace is a 17 year old vocalist, song writer, and multi-instrumentalist from Oakdale, California who has been singing and playing music since she was 6. By age 14 she was performing in local venues and with her church worship team.
Ava has been lucky enough to be surrounded by some of the best musicians in California. She is currently working on multiple musical projects with many talented artists, including the Ava Grace Duo, and her band Gravel & Grace, co-fronted by local blues veteran Big Earl Matthews.
Ava finished recording her first studio album with Gravel & Grace this year. The band will be releasing the album, titled “Gravel & Grace: Bringing the Blues”, on June 19th, 2020. Their first single from the album, “Pennies”, is now available on all major streaming platforms.
