Fender Discontinues the MIM Line of Guitars!
Fender made news in the guitar and gear world today with the announcement that its Mexican Standard Series or what was called the MIM series, will be discontinued and will be replace with a new entry-level line called the “Fender Player Series”.
Much like the MIM series it’s replacing, the Player Series will feature all of the classic Fender guitar and bass models you know and love! The Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazzmaster, and Jaguar guitars, as well as Precision, Jazz, and Jaguar basses, which will be offered at more affordable price points than their American-made alternatives ($650-$675 retail).
While Fender will stick to it’s tried and true body shapes, some of the guitars will come equipped with some non-standard features. The Jaguar will feature a humbucking pickup in the bridge position, while maintaining the single-coil at the neck, and the Jazzmaster will feature dual humbuckers instead of the soapbar pickups.
