Dom Martin & The Savages Live At The Harlington
Dom Martin & The Savages Live At The Harlington
Those of us who love music are always searching for that moment when the music we hear, just stops you in its tracks. It’s the kind of moment is embedded in you memory forevermore. That moment happened for me in early 2019 when I heard Dom Martin perform for the first time. Some religions believe in reincarnation as part of their belief system.
What I saw and heard that evening in Whelan’s Dublin has stayed with me ever since. When I heard Dom sing western plain the Lead Belly classic that Irish Blues Rock Legend Rory Gallagher made his own. That moment it was like hearing Rory sing it all over again. A goosebump moment that I will never forget.
Dom has accomplished a lot in a relatively short space of time. His Debut album Spain To Italy was released in 2019 to widespread critical acclaim, lots of plans for the future but Covid had other ideas. Those plans had been put on hold,
However during that period Dom recorded a live album “Dom Martin &The Savages -Live At The Harlington. This fine album captures the magic of hearing Dom perform live. The recording is a mix of original Dom tracks and some Rory classics opening with driving rock of Dixie Black Hand followed later by some Rory classics Laundromat, Rising Sun,and What’s Going On .
But it’s towards the end of the show that we are treated to musical magic, when Dom takes off the brakes and plays blazing acoustic guitar like nobody else in the world right now. His fingers moving at lightning speed, his voice bare with pure emotion. So when you listen to Live At The Harlington, remember one thing Dom Martin is only getting started. This young man from Belfast has the talent, the power, and the glory to set the world of music on fire.
One is for sure the best has yet to come
