Day Three: The 2017 Daytona Blues Festival
The opener Al Hill previously played with Bettye Lavette finished first in the solo/duo category at the 2017 International Blues Challenge
The Paul Deslauriers Band won four 2017 Maple Leaf Awards (Canada’s equivalent to our Blues Music Awards) , best bassist, best drummer, Best Electric Act of The Year and Entertainer of The Year. They also finished second in the 2017 IBC band competition.
Alligator records recording artist Toronzo Cannon is a five time BMA nominee. He received four nominations in 2017 including one for Best Contemporary Blues Male Artist.
Tinsley Ellis is a two time BMA nominee. His last nomination was in 2016 for Rock Blues Album of The Year. He just re-signed with Alligator records and is planning a new release in January 2018.
Spearman Brewers performed on the Riverfront stage.
The closer for the day and for the festival was pianist Victor Wainwright who won five Blues Music Awards including one for 2016 Entertainer of The Year.
