Comedian & Actor Chris Roach From CBS’s “Kevin Can Wait” Pays Tribute to His Hometown with Beach Boys Parody “RONKOKOMO”
September, 2017 (Long Island, NY) — With his role as loveable friend “Mott” opposite Kevin James in CBS’s new sitcom “Kevin Can Wait” (produced by CBS Studios in association with Sony Pictures Television) reprised for Season 2 and returning this Fall – comic/actor/writer Chris Roach recently stepped into another, a’la Weird Al Yankovic, with a new parody song and video titled “RONKOKOMO”!
A parody of the classic Beach Boys 1989 hit, “RONKOKOMO” is Roach’s ode to the town and greater Long Island and New York communities he loves. In the video, the comic is seen hopping everywhere from a Long Island Railroad car to a boat cruising the Long Island Sound, to the Montauk Lighthouse, Lake Ronkonkoma, and even NYC!
Beginning in the classic Beach Boys tones, Roach belts “….Key Largo, Montego…ah forget that! You know where I really want to go? Off the Long Island Sound there’s a place called RONKOKOMO that’s where you want to go to get away from it all” with other references like “A once-polluted lake, and urban myth to make your thumbs shake, if you want to find me I’ll be riding the Long Island Railroad, down to RONKOKOMO” all guided by the hysterical refrain “Penn Station, Jamaica, ooooh I want to take ya // Mineola, then Hicksville, come on baby sit still // Farmingdale, then Deer Park, ooooh ya know we’re almost at RONKOKOMO! // We’ll take the train ‘cause the expressway’s slow”.
