Where Are You Now
As a lover of music there is no greater joy for me,than the discovery of new music. It’s best described for me like uncovering a new treasure unknown to me until now. I love that feeling, it’s something that happens to me on quite a regular basis. Such is the abundance of quality music being produced right now.
So recently when I discovered this excellent new album by “Clare Free”not a name familiar to me I had to find out more. Boy what a story was about to unfold, I discovered the producer of this album was none other than “Richard Flack” .
Richard is the producer for “Robbie Williams” among other hi profile musical luminaries. It’s gets better because the album was recorded at the legendary “Abbey Road” studios and mastered by Frank Arkwright who also has worked with the best in the business.
With all that knowledge gained, I simply couldn’t wait to hear the results. I wasn’t to be disappointed. So to the music-
The album kicks off with the title track
“Where Are You Now” also released as a single. Clare can definitely rock with the very best of them, as this track more than demonstrates. As you would expect the production is flawless, as is the performance of Clare herself.
But this album cannot be pigeonholed as a blues rock album. In fact Clare asked that the production would reflect more of a pop sound. In fact with “Thank You” there is a distinct folk rock sound in the vein of “Julie Felix” which I assure you is no mean feat.
“Let Me Down Easy”is definitely more pop influenced, the beat is hypnotic ,a fine song indeed. But just case you think she has gone a little soft, up comes “Bitch”a dark ominous piece of driving rock n’roll.Theres even a little funk thrown in with “Little Miss Jealousy”. The album finishes with pure “rock n roll” with “Nice Girls”So there you have it an album that showcases the considerable talents of Clare Free. “Where Are You Now” on this evidence on the way to well deserved success Clare.
