“The Blues Don’t Lie” is the follow up album to the “Blues is Alve and Well” featuring producer, songwriter, and drummer Tom Hambridge. Also featured are Reese Wynans Hammond Organ; Michael Rhodes, bass; and Rob McNelley guitar. Guest artists are Mavis Staples, Elvis Costello and James Taylor.
The album will be released exactly 65 years to the day that Buddy Guy arrive in Chicago on a train from Baton Rouge, Louisiana in September of 1957, with just the clothes on his back an his guitar. His life would never be the same, and he was born again in the blues. The Blues Don’t Lie tells the story of his lifelong journey.
Buddy Guy got his start playing guitar in a duo setting with vocalist and harmonica ace Junior Wells. In the early 1960’s he recorded his first solo album “It’s My Life Baby” on Vanguard Records. He has been the most celebrated guitarist and vocalist since B.B. King. The lyric “the blues don’t lie “Sonny Boy told the truth, the blues don’t lie” makes him the most important performer of our time!
