Bluesberry Festival 2021
You can always count on Mike Holly And the city of Norcross Put on A great show And Saturday they did it again. The 10th anniversary BLUESBERRY Festival Where’s wonderful The weather threatened rain but that never happened. It was comfortably cool All day Every group Got to perform with only slight technical problems that you expect to see to say at any festival. And what performances they were !
1st was a group Which was not known to us called Blind Jive. They were very good, especially instrumental. The vocalist was a so good but sometimes I felt he was over powered by the others. Since they were first, the sound may not quite have been balanced yet.
After them came The Cazanovas, always crowd-pleasers. With Maurice Navarro’s fiery harp, Danny Vinson’s virtuoso guitar, and the rest of the band at the top of their game, they were a ensure to hear and see.
Next, Stoney Brooks Appeared with Cody Matlock And his band. Cody is a brilliant young man who has put together An excellent band and it was a pleasure to see a legend like Stoney Brooks With them.
They were followed by the Real Deal Blues Band, who also win my heart with their powerful harmonica player and who are solid in every respect. They offered a tribute to Carlos Capote which made me tear up, and I was not the only one. We miss you, Carlos.
Sandra Hall, the Empress of the Blues, came o. Next and blew us away as always. I really love Sandra and her version of “Ball and Chain” was heartstrings!
Finally, it was time for Eddie 9V! If I was feeling tired, O forgot it when Eddie came on with 2 sax players and Cody Matlock in addition to her regular band! Eddie is taking off now the way I knew he would 10 tears ago when he and Cody were 15 year prodigies. Both of them are flourishing and seeing them play together was a real treat! Eddie 9V is one of those performers who sounds great on record. But is phenomenal live!
Hats off to Mike Holley, Norcross and all the performers! Bluesberry was a blast!
