Blues Foundation Provides FREE Health Screenings at the IBC!
An Exclusive Interview with Dr. Janice Johnston about Health Screening at the IBC by Richard Lhommedieu on Mixcloud
Often musicians do not have access to good medical care and more importantly, to good early detection services to protect them from some of the most common and potentially deadly medical conditions such as High Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and Skin Cancer. For the Second year in a row, the Blues Foundation will be offering FREE Health screenings for these conditions, through the “Hart” fund at the “International Blues Challenge”.
Where and When?
These Screenings will be held on Wednesday Jan 21 and Thursday Jan 22nd from 1-3:30pm Upstairs at Club 152 Right on Beale St. In addition to the medical screenings, the Blues Foundation has partnered with the Grammy Foundation’s “Musicares” to provide anyone who wants, Custom ear plugs! Molds will be taken during the IBC Event and the Ear Plugs will be mailed to your about 1 month later. It is important for musicians to protect their hearing and these custom ear plugs are valued at over $200 each. The best part is they are being provided to you FREE!
The Affordable Health Care Act
In Addition there will be people on hand to answer any questions you have about the Affordable Health Care Act and how it would apply to you as a musician. The opportunity to talk to someone about your options in this new legislation is a huge benefit to the community!
Is There a Doctor in the House?
Now, they can always use the help, so if you are a physician and you plan on attending the IBC, Dr. Johnston would love to have your assistance in helping provide these screening services. If you believe you can help and you do plan on attending or would like to attend and participate you can contact Dr. Johnston directly.
