Amanda Fish began her singer-songwriting career in 2012 refining her original material for a solo act before forming her band in 2014. The following year Amanda released her debut album “Down in The Dirt” on Vizztone, and she won a 2016 “Sean Costello Rising Star” Blues Blast Music Award. Amanda, sister to Samantha, became a semifinalist in the 2017 International Blues Challenge where she garnered acclaim from fans and industry professionals, enabling her to start touring in both the US and Canada. In 2018 Amanda released her second all original studio album “Free”, also on Vizztone, and it earned her a 2019 Blues Music Award for Best Emerging Artist Album. During the 2020 Covid crisis, Amanda released an album of home recorded songs aptly named “Trailer Park Demos. This new album “Kingdom” is Amanda’s long awaited 3rd studio recording, also on Vizztone.
“Kingdom” opens with “Mockingbird” featuring Terry Midkiff, rhythm and slide guitar; Paul Niehaus IV bass, and guitar solo; Glen James, drums; Billie Bauman, percussion; and Mama Moo, background vocals. “Sell The Record” is heavily influenced by the events of the Covid pandemic with Billy Evanochoko, lead guitar; and the lyric “don’t mention politics, sell the record”.
“The Hard Way” is about government corruption “we tried to do it right, but we discovered it’s the harder way”. “Unbreakable” includes Amanda’s beautiful but powerful vocal, and features Jeremiah Johnson, on lead guitar; “I feel you beside me…then you push me and play me”. “The Great Reset” includes the lyric “lovin’ in a constant retreat, wake up and fight before you loose everything”. “Broke Ass Blues” includes Midkiff on slide, “it’s the broke ass Blues, I’ve paid my dues”.
“Works” sports some fabulous harmonica from Richard Rosenblatt, “livin’ in the ashes of America…you gotta’ work, the enemy doesn’t have to do nothin’at all”, this is another timely topical song. Next comes “The World We Leave Behind”.
“Mother” , “I’ve been watching this world…I’ve lost the faith, I was your mother…we were young and alone, deep inside me, I knew it was wrong but I went along…I lost sisters, I lost brothers, but I was your mother”. On the closer, the title track “Kingdom”, features Dylan Farrell, lead guitar; and Dom Knott, saxophone “save my soul, set me on fire…glory to the Kingdom come”.
Recorded at the Blue Lotus Studio in St.Louis by Paul Niehaus IV, “Kingdom” is a masterpiece, written and sung by Amanda as she demonstrates her beautiful voice, full of power and grace. This is another award winning effort.
