Making a Scene Presents an Interview with Peter Veteska of Peter Veteska and Blues Train
Peter Veteska and Blues Train was formed in 2013 and is led by Peter Veteska on guitar and vocals; B3 legend Jeff Levine on keyboards; and drummer Alex D’Agnese – the only original member and instrumental in creating the Blues Train sound with his high energy drum style. Bassist Coo Moe Jhee has played and recorded on the last three albums; he has since taken a hiatus from the music scene and bassman extraordinaire Chuck Hearne (Leslie West’s Mountain ) has seamlessly stepped in. The band is also occasionally joined by vocal powerhouse Jen Barnes. Well known throughout the mid-Atlantic region, the band has also performed at events and festivals from Maine to Florida.
From their debut, self-titled album released in 2015 through today, Peter Veteska and Blue Train’s critically-acclaimed music has been played on radio and streaming services in 15 countries. Grass Ain’t Greener on the Other Side, the band’s fifth album, spent 3 weeks in the top ten Blues Albums on the Roots Music Report and 3 months in the top ten on the Australian Blues and Roots Airplay charts.
In a review for Blues Blast magazine, Marty Gunther describes Veteska as “one of the most talented but overlooked artists in the blues world today.” Their release, So Far So Good, the band’s sixth album in seven years, spent 2 weeks in the top ten on B.B. King’s Bluesville on SiriusXM, 2 months in the top ten on the Living Blues chart, and an impressive 21 weeks as the #1 New Jersey album on the Roots Music Report chart to name a few of the highlights.
The band is poised to release their seventh album, Full Tilt. Recorded live with minimal overdubs with the goal of producing a finely-tuned studio album without sacrificing the vitality and spontaneity of the band’s live performances, Full Tilt opened a pathway to honing the Blues Train sound. The twelve tracks, eight of which are originals, are a distinct and exciting departure from the band’s previous releases.
