CONCERT TO BENEFIT NASHVILLE GUITAR LEGEND JIMMY NALLS, SIDELINED BY PARKINSON’S

April 26th Line-Up at 3rd & Lindsley Boasts Top Blues-Rockers. Event Also Debuts

(NASHVILLE) After Parkinson’s disease struck famed guitarist Jimmy Nalls at the height of his career in the mid-‘90s, his legions of friends and fans showed their support in a series of all-star benefit concerts. Those shows enabled Jimmy, a founding member of the jazz-rock supergroup Sea Level, and who can also be heard on a wealth of classic blues-rock recordings, to obtain crucial treatment for the debilitating disease.
Now Jimmy’s longtime collaborator, D.L. ( Dave) Duncan, has organized a new Fundraising Concert to help Jimmy receive revolutionary treatments with world renowned Chinese Neuro Acupuncturist, Dr. Jason Hao. Located in Santa Fe, NM, Dr. Hao has seen amazing results with brain related issues..including helping the great Randy Travis recover from his recent debilitating stroke ( www.scalpacupuncture.info ). Jimmy Nalls will once again be receiving the most advanced treatments the medical community has to offer to combat his dreaded neurological disease.
At press time, confirmed guests include : Nashville’s legendary guitarist Jack Pearson ( Allman Brothers ), Grammy-winning piano genius Kevin McKendree ( & his son Yates McKendree), guitar phenom Guthrie Trapp, multi instrumentalist Pat Bergeson, Texas legend James Pennebaker, Allen Thompson (indie sensation), & Blues Music Award nominee D.L. Duncan (& Friends) — with more artists being added in the near future.
These musicians are not only A-Listers on the blues-rock pantheon, but most have also played with Jimmy Nalls over the years and are among his most ardent supporters.

Previous benefit guests include Delbert McClinton, T. Graham Brown, Mike Henderson, Chuck Leavell, Bonnie and Bekka Bramlett, The Nighthawks, Gary Nicholson, Lee Roy Parnell, Johnny Neel, Jimmy Hall, Dave Pomeroy, Noel Paul Stookey, and many more.
Jimmy Nalls is widely known as a creative, jazzy blues-rock guitarist. He inspired so many other players over his 35 year recording career and brought an exciting level of talent and invention to his work with Sea Level, The Nighthawks, Gregg Allman, Dr. John, T. Graham Brown, and BJ Thomas, among others.
A highlight of the April 26 concert will be the debut of “The Jimmy Nalls Project,” a unique recording “cooperative” undertaken by Jimmy’s friends and fellow players. Even after Jimmy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, he continued to write songs, many of them with his friend, D.L.Duncan. Recording started on those songs, along with others penned by Jimmy, about 10 years ago at Jimmy’s home studio. Lynn Williams then overdubbed live drums. These rough multi tracks sat for a few years, until they were sent to Duncan to get a workable 2-track mix.
Enter Nashville luthier and repair guru Joe Glaser, who then sent the tracks, one by one, to a Who’s Who of guitarists around the world—so they could overdub their own tracks to the finished project. These guests include Joe Bonamassa, Vince Gill, Jack Pearson, Robben Ford, Brad Whitford, Jimmy Hall, Kenny Greenberg, Lee Roy Parnell and Guthrie Trapp…and many other notables (several of these players will be guests at the April 26 concert). ”The Jimmy Nalls Project” is being mastered by engineer Ray Kennedy, and it will be ready in time for the benefit. Jack Pearson, world-renowned guitarist and former member of The Allman Brothers Band, said, “I first heard Jimmy Nalls in the mid-‘70s and immediately started trying to learn what he played on his first Sea Level record. When he moved to Nashville in the ‘80s, we met and started playing music together and became instant friends. He is an inspiration to many and I’m proud to know him.”
In 1995, Nalls learned that he had Parkinson’s disease, a progressive and irreversible brain disorder that causes tremors, poor balance, and muscle and movement-related symptoms. Jimmy continued on as long as he could write and perform, and in 1999 Jimmy Nalls released his brilliant solo CD Ain’t No Stranger (MRL Records) to critical acclaim.
Concert organizer D.L. Duncan considers Jimmy Nalls a real hero, not just to him, but to scores of guitarists and musicians who have worked with and been influenced by Nalls over the years: “Jimmy Nalls is our Brother, and we all respect him deeply. It’s been a heartbreaking 20 years of struggle, but Jimmy is remarkably strong and has fought like a trooper every step of the way. We all have our fingers crossed that the new treatment regimens will bring our friend Hope & Healing.”
Jimmy Nalls has confirmed that he will be attending the benefit.
