The Love Light Orchestra Leave the Light on
Leave the Light on
Both the older and the newer recordings are produced by Matt Ross-Spang. The first album includes John Nemeth singing as he covers Bobby “Blue” Bland on the 1961 hits “Turn On Your Love Light”, and again on the 1966 hit “Poverty”. Nemeth also covers songs from Little Junior Parker and Buddy Ace. In addition he covers two B.B. King songs including Percy Mayfield’s “Please Send Me Somebody to Love”.
Nemeth won his first Blues Music Award in 2014 as he was named the Soul Blues Male Artist of the Year, and he repeated by winning another BMA in 2015 with The Blues Album of the Year. He has been a perennial nominee since the 2017 release “Live At The DKDC Bar in Memphis” being nominated every year except one. On the second album all the songs are originals. Four were written by John Nemeth including “Come On Moon”, three more were written by Marck Franklin, two by Joe Restivo, and he also covers Lowell Fulson’s “3 O’ Clock Blues”. This is another great collection of songs.
