Making a Scene Presents an Interview with Teghan Devon
Teghan Devon is an award-winning singer-songwriter based in the DMV who has also lived in California, Texas, Michigan, Minnesota, and Massachusetts. She has been writing and performing her songs for 12 years. She fell in love with music at a young age when she was first introduced to The Beatles. There is still an incriminating video of her singing “The Ballad of John and Yoko” in her booster seat.
Teghan graduated from the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy. She then went on to graduate from Berklee College of Music in 2021. In 2019, an ensemble performed two of her original songs at the Berklee Global Summit. She is a two time New Folk Finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival and has won multiple Silver Awards and the Young Artist Award in the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. She has released 2 projects, her debut album “Fingers Crossed”, and an EP called “Little Lion”. In July of 2020, “Little Lion” reached #70 on the Folk Alliance International Folk DJ Chart. In 2021, her song “Maybe Then” was placed in the MTV show, Ghosted: Love Gone Missing. In January of 2022, Teghan released her new single “V.I.P.” and will be releasing more music.
Teghan’s voice has been compared to that of Norah Jones, Edie Brickell, and Fiona Apple. Teghan’s songwriting shows traces of her heroes, Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, Mitski, and Juliana Hatfield. Teghan’s songs are introspective and personal. She is known for her memorable melodies and pensive lyrics.
