Pablo Mercedes Sickening
Sickening
Today I can introduce you to the brand new album by Pablo Mercedes which was released in November 2021.
Pablo Mercedes, based in the UK, is what you can call a veteran of music with a clear conscience without being disrespectful. In the music business since 1978 he started with punk rock and the band Rabid and then completely changed the genre and presented his new blues / rock sound. Together with Senor Penguino he founded the new musical collective PABLO MERCEDES Y LOS COJONES DEL DIABLO. In 2017 the album “Devil & God ” was released, pure rock n roll! And in 2018 “El Paso Daze” was released, a live album and more than recommendable, followed by his solo album “Devil Made Two” in 2019.
And now he surprises us with his album “Sickening” surprisingly because all seven songs on this album are cover versions … and in my eyes they are better than the originals!
You can find the great song “Jolene” by Dolly Parton here as well as Britney Spears “Baby One More Time”, “These Boots Were Made For Walking “meets “Sissy That Walk” and Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” also fits the album perfectly like “Creep” …. one of my absolute favorite songs and already covered so often … but never as well implemented as by Pablo and finally “The Killing of Georgie Pts. 1 & 2 ”, another favorite song of mine!
Listening to Pablo Mercedes is like discovering something completely new, it’s blues and rock but it’s so much more. The voice of the artist shows such a range that surprises in every song and that in a very pleasant way. Dark and violent as well as downright lovely … I don’t know if he likes this description but it cannot be denied. Pablo says about Sickening that it is an album that highlights the prejudices against LGBTQ and I think he not only succeeded in doing that , it’s also a more than important topic!
Pablo is supported by the Mercedes Collective, a grass roots group of fans who get to hear all pre release songs and comment (Pablo likes to hear Opinions Negative and Positive on future releases) in exchange, this grass roots collective get access to pre release material .
A truly refreshing breeze of brilliant music awaits and on this album! Many artists do cover albums but in my opinion this is one of the best I’ve heard so far!
