The Delerium Trees STORMS ON THE MOON
STORMS ON THE MOON
The Delerium Trees have just released their great album “Tales from the Western Isles” and the next one is already at the start! And this time a double album which of course means double enjoyment!
“Storms On The Moon”, sixteen songs, sixteen times unearthly good music and selected pieces with depth as we are used to from the “Trees”. All tracks composed by Drew Jarvie, the main man and founder of the band, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who is accompanied by his good friend and equally excellent musician Wyatt Pauley from the American band Linear on guitars and mandolin and Jack Fox, guitar, who is returning after being on the album “Swimming with the Ghost Angels” .
A mixture of brand new songs and songs that have been waiting for a long time to be released and that have to be heard! And again The Delerium Trees has succeeded in creating a very varied album that deals with topics that move everyone, that everyone knows and that each of us has to deal with.
Songs like the title track “Storms Of The Moon”, “This Long Road” or “Don’t Give In” are songs that tell of social injustice, not easy fare and as always when Drew Jarvie sings about topics that are close to his heart you can feel the urgency in the lyrics as well as in the singing. And then there are the songs that amuse, that are optimistic and kinda easy going and they fit just as well as the more serious ones.
“Run Round The Sun” is such a song, a light melody and wonderful lyrics, just beautiful! Just like “Double Decker Bus in India” which is almost poppy and “Sometimes It’s Good”, one of my favorites and sparkling with optimism.
With this new album, The Delerium Trees have achieved something really great again and I would like to repeat myself here! With all the albums the band has made so far, I always had the feeling that it couldn’t be better … and then they go one better!
‘Storms On the Moon’ was recorded at Drew’s own studio at Crackerbox Palace, Turriff and mixed / mastered at the ARC Studios, Mintlaw with the ever helpful Heitor Alves.
