If music is about putting a smile on your face, making you want to clap your hands and stomp your feet. One band made you feel all three. Slade didn’t just play loud rock n roll, and made you want to stomp and scream.
They were one of the first bands to create the rock / pop anthems. Slade could create and atmosphere similar to that of a packed football stadium. The audience and the band were as one combined into a powerful wave of rock n roll heaven. But supplying the pounding beat in the engine room of the band was the unique drumming skills of Don Powell.
