ILANA KATZ KATZ – Segment Begins At The 57:50 Mark
Ilana came to The Couch from Anne Harris, who came to The Couch from Jeff Jensen. I LOVE how those things work! Ilana is a fiddle player whose music is firmly rooted in the sound of Appalachian Music with generous helpings of Blues, Roots, Americana, Country and Jazz. Her album is entitled I Have Something To Tell You and features, among others the great Ronnie Earl. We spoke about her meeting Lonnie Mack, touring with John Lee Hooker and so many others. We also talked about her writing and her painting.
NANCY WRIGHT – Segment begins At The 1:46:10 Mark
Nancy reached out to me on her own and sent me her newest album, Putting Down Roots. We then met in Memphis during BMA week. The album is a great collection of instrumentals and vocals and Nancy just kills it on Sax. She and I explored her long, illustrious road and where she is heading.
FRANC ROBERT – COUCH KID NEW MUSIC – Segment Begins At The 2:26:40 Mark
Franc returns for his third visit to The Couch. This time to share the new album with his band The Box Car Tourists, entitled Goin’ Down To Florida. The band has been restructured and the music is just brilliant. Franc and I spoke about the last 15 months since his last visit on Show # 214. We talked about the new band and we discussed why I was mispronouncing his name!
