Making a Scene Presents an Interview with Wily Bo Walker
Wily Bo Walker is an award-winning solo artist, songwriter, composer and performer noted for his swaggering ‘live’ performances and is regarded as one of the top blues vocalists in Europe
Renowned as being a diverse and prolific artist and hailing originally from Glasgow, Scotland, Wily Bo works across many styles and genres; Blues, Gospel, Soul, Classic R&B, Rock, Jazz, AAA and Americana
From his acoustic swamp’n’stomp Americana ‘VoodooVille’ shows with ‘The Wily Bo Walker Acoustic Band’, his live & kickin’ 5 piece Rock & Blues ‘Wily Bo Walker Band’ through to his full band with Danny Flam & The New York Brass, Wily Bo proves why he has been recognised as an Artist who can twist genres into new forms and has been inducted in to, and is worthy of, the ‘U.S. Blues Hall of Fame’ accolade of ‘Master Blues Artist’
An independent Scottish artist, selling into 79+ countries and with a huge global following on streaming sites like Spotify (over 5 million streams), his previous release ‘Moon Over Indigo’ (Sept 2015) was considered for a 2016 Grammy nomination as was his prior collaboration with Grammy Award winner, Danny Flam; ‘Wily Bo Walker & The Danny Flam Big Band‘ (Nov 2013)
Expanding upon the success of ‘Moon Over Indigo’, Wily Bo and Danny Flam worked with some of the cream of U.S. & U.K. musicians on a new album ‘Ain’t No Man a Good Man’ that explored the genre-twists that have come to be expected of a Wily Bo production
His 2018 album ‘Almost Transparent Blues’ received accolades worldwide and reached No 1 for 5 weeks in the Roots Music Report UK Album Charts and Top 30 in the coveted Roots Music Report U.S. Blues Album Charts
Working with multi-instrumentalist E. D. Brayshaw, the album ‘The Roads We Ride’ charted worldwide (#150 in the Roots Music Report Contemporary Blues Charts across all albums in the genre released in 2019). They received spectacular reviews with the track ‘The Ballad of Johnny & Louise’ also reaching No 1 in the prestigious Netherlands’ Hit-Tracks Top 100
In the second half of 2020, Wily will be working with E D Brayshaw on their next release in the run of works under the banner of ‘Welcome to VoodooVille’; ‘Some People Kill for Passion’ will again feature their dark Americana, Gothic noir, swampy blues tales and soaring guitar solos which have heavily featured in his recent ‘live’ shows with both his Acoustic Band and his Electric Band
Wily Bo is also producing the music and soundtrack album for ‘The Rattlin Bone Theatre Show’ a theatre production that will open at a London Theatre late 2021 and will also feature as part of Wily Bo’s ‘VoodooVille’ collection of stories and albums…
