On May 8^th at 4:30pm the reigning queen of Beale Street, Ms Barbara Blue, received an honor that few before her have received to date.  Barbara is enshrined forever with a prestigious brass note on Beale Street. Literally millions of blues fans from around will make the stroll from one downtown Memphis blues club to the other and pass her brass note.. Since the inception of the brass notes tradition downtown Beale Street has become known as the Beale Street Brass Notes Walk of Fame.  Barbara Blue, an eighteen year veteran on Beale, has certainly earned her fame.  KPFT radio show host The Blueshound recently remarked, “Barbara Blue is to Memphis as riverboats are to the Mississippi. This Beale Street Blues Queen embodies the heart, soul and spirit of Memphis.”  The ceremony was held at Silky Sullivans at 3rd and Beale.
