Making a Scene Presents an Interview with Bear Williams
What do Frankie Beverly & Maze, Anita Baker, The Late George Duke, Boney James, Mavis Staples, Jonathan Butler, Larry Carlton, The Crusaders, Steve Perry of Journey, and many other A-List Musical Artists have in common? The answer is Bass Player, Vocalist, Songwriter and Producer, Bear Williams AKA Larry Kimpel.
The Chicago Native spent 25 years living and working in Los Angeles both in the studios and on the road with many of the world’s favorite recording artists. He’s played on over 400 CDs and is still recording music to this day. Bear has received numerous Awards for his work including the keys to the cities of Philadelphia, Dallas, Texas, and Atlanta. In 2012 Bear received a BET Lifetime Achievement Award for his work with Frankie Beverly & Maze both on tour and for his contribution to the group’s 1994 CD titled “Back To Basics” (Warner Bros.).
Now Bear Williams returns to his Chicago Blues/Roots Music Heritage and steps out front with his own Great New Blues and Roots Music CD titled “Waters of Love on GVR Records (Distributed via INgrooves/Universal).
