The Jimmys are an R n’ B band formed by Jimmy Voegeli in 2008. By day the Wisconsin native works on his family’s fifth generation dairy farm with 200 Brown Swiss dairy cows. At night Voegeli is an award winning musician. In the liner notes Voegeli thanks the crew at the farm for putting up with his absence when recording or performing on the road. The Jimmys released their debut “Gimme” in 2011. Voegeli and the band have since won numerous Wisconsin based music awards.

This new album is only their third studio album and fifth overall. This is also their first album produced by The Grammy award winning Tony Braunagel. The seven-piece band includes Voegeli, piano, B-3, clavinet and vocals; Perry Weber, guitar and vocals; Peterson Ross, sax; Kevin Feyzi, trombone; Mike Boman, trumpet; John Wartenweiler, bass; and producer/drummer Braunagel who on this album replaces their regular drummer Chris Sandoval. Additional horns include Kyle Samuelson, trombone; Al Falaschi, baritone sax; and Kurt Shipe, trumpet. Other guests are vocalist Marcia Ball; background vocalists Melodye Perry and Mike Finnigan, and percussionist Wally Ingram.

The thirteen tracks include four songs from Weber.  The opener “Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet”, just might be the album’s anthem. “Drinkin’” was written by him and Braunagel. “Someday Baby” was written by Jim Liban when Weber was a member of The Jim Liban Blues Trio.

Seven more songs were written or co-written by Voegeli. The title track and the beautiful “When You Got Love”. “Words And Actions” was co-written with Bruanagel; while “Write A Hit” was written with vocalist Ball. “Jose” is a Booker T and The Mg’s inspired instrumental and my favorite track on this outstanding album. “Always A Woman” is from Gary Nicholson and Kevin McKendree.

The Jimmys have never sounded better. Music historian and Blues Hall of Fame inductee Bob Porter sums it up “Great band in an old school R & B sense. Great grooves throughout”. This break out album is a future Blues Music Award winner.
