Willie and the Bandits
Paths
The story of the “blues” started out in the southern states of America among the cotton fields and plantations. The music came from deep within, filled with emotion. The stories that were told sang of the “Sorrow” and “Trouble” that prevailed at the time.
In “2019” the blues has evolved, but the intensity and expression of social issues of the day remains the same. The blues is timeless because it’s a “State of Mind”.
With “Paths”, Willie and the Bandits have effortlessly woven together lyrics and music that express today’s social issues. It’s done with a variety of styles including the traditional acoustic blues opening of “One Way”, or the pop ballad style of “Four Million Days” to the driving southern rock style of “Retribution”.
“Paths” is an album that is fresh, vital, and so full of energy. Willie and the Bandits are in high demand and it’s no wonder either, as their live shows are the stuff that “legends” are made of.
“Paths” is a turning point in modern day “blues music”. It takes the spirit of the music from the past and brings it right up to the present day. A definite stocking filler for that blues fan in your life . I highly recommend it.
