The Taylor Made Blues Band – Darwin’s Burgers and Blues, March 8 2019
The Taylor Made Blues Band rolled into town Friday night, and they were just as much fun as ever! The very tall Mick Kolossa and David Dunavent, looking about half the size he used to be, shared vocals and guitar and they had a new drummer and bass player from Atlanta (We’re half a hometown band now,” said Mick,) they came to have fun, and they shared it with us all!
“Bluesified” classics like The Box Tops “The Letter” and our absolute favorite versions of Randy Newman’s “Mama Told Me Not To Come” and“Feeling Alright” and “Outside Woman” had the crowd up and dancing. The band also played a number of Mick’s own songs, including a couple that hit pretty close to the target for yours truly, like “Time Ain’t On My Side” and “Can’t Slow Down.” The crowd also loved Mick’s answer song to “Always On My Mind,” “I Always Meant To Love You.”
The band kept things rocking. Dunavent played a fiery guitar and, as usual, Mick turned even those who had never met him into friends, with an able assist from David. The new guys were pretty quiet and just helped keep the music on track, as drummers and bassists so often do onstage.
The whole experience was a joy as always. Check them out when they come to your town and get ready to enjoy yourself!
