This weekend: Indie blues in and around Atlanta Feb. 15-17
Some welcome visitors join the talented local blues crew this week. Damon Fowler and Gino Vinelli are in town on Friday, and Delbert McClinton shows up Saturday. Also in Saturday, Sweetwater has its “throwdown,”: bringing us Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Anders Osborne, Samantha Fish, and the Grassland String Band! With all that and our own great bands, it’ a great weekend to be a blues fan in Atlanta! Check it out!

Damon Fowler is at Blind Willie’s and The Barry Richman Band is at Darwin’s in Sandy Springs. Frankie’s Blues Mission comes to Fat att’s Rib Shack and Stoney Brooks is at Northside Tavern. Cody’s Tiny Kitchen is at MoonShadow Tavern in Tucker. Gino Vannelli is at Center Stage and Chequered Blue is at Full Throttle Road House in Mableton and The Larry Griffith Duo is at Kempton Overland Hotel.
Saturday
Delbert McClinton comes to Variety Playhouse. It’s time for the Sweetwater Brewery 22nd Anniversary Throwdown from 2-10 pm at Sweetwater Brewery, featuring Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Anders Osborne, Samantha Fish, and the Grassland String Band. Bill Morganfield & The Shadow are at Blind Willie’s and Darwin’s has Katie Martin’s Open Mic in the afternoon followed by The Cazanovas. The Juke Joint Dukes at Fat Matt’s. Bill Sheffield performs from 6-9 pm, followed by The Rockaholics are at Northside Tavern. Out at Midnight is at MoonShadow Tavern. The Garrett Collins Project is at Two Urban Licks and Mudcat & Alma Russ are at Waller’s Coffee Shop in Decatur.
Sunday
The Atlanta Blues Society Annual Membership Meeting and Jam with Mudcat takes place from 3-6 pm at Blind Willie’s. Jet Black & The Whacos are at Fat Matt’s. Uncle Sugar is at Northside Tavern.
