The Record Company’s music is a blend of early electric blues and garage rock. In 2016 The Record Company released their hugely successful debut which appealed to a broad range of listeners. Chris Vos vocals, harmonica, and guitars states “We’re just as influenced by bands like the Stones and The Stooges as we are by blues legends like Hooker, Muddy Waters and Jimmy Reed”,  “our sound has a lot of early rock n’ roll but with a greater emphasis on the drums and bass”.

“After that first album, everything just got amplified, our lives got easier and bigger and more complicated in the best possible ways, and our sound and our songwriting just naturally grew alongside that. We’re the same people we always were, but The Record Company isn’t just three guys in a living room anymore”. The bands success includes three singles, sold out shows around the world and a Grammy nomination. In fact “Off The Ground” from their debut “Give It Back To You” is the eighth most popular song played on Blues radio for the week ending June 9^th, two years and five months after the debut’s release. Vos continues “this new record to me is about self reflection and making yourself better. It’s about taking responsibility.”

“We want to be known as the best live band on Earth” states Marc Cazorla, organ and drums; and it’s this collective attitude that makes this sophomore album so special. Produced by guitarist/bassist Alex Stiff the album was recorded at Boulevard Recording in Hollywood and mixed by Mark Needham.

The opener “Life To Fix” is about putting your best foot forward even through the difficult times. “I’m Getting Better”, strongly influenced by Bob Dylan, takes those ideas to the next level. The slow ballad “Goodbye To The Hard Life” is reminiscent of something that might have been done by Led Zeppellin. On “Make It Happen” Vos sings in a falsetto “If you want something, you got to go out and get it”. Both “You And Me Now” and the rockin’ “Coming Home” are great productions.

“The Movie Song” features some great guitar from Vos and the lyric “everybody want a make a movie, everybody act like a star …everytime we all get together, ain’t nothin’ changed at all”. “Night Games” features Vos with some great slide. On “Roll Bones” Stiff sets the song up with his thumpin’ bass “I was born to kick up dust but I don’t trust no one but blood”. On “I’m Changing” Vos’ taps into the southern soul of Johnny Cash.

Stiff adds “we learned from the first album that our audience really connected to songs with a little more inner depth and reflection.” Each of these songs should garner a significant amount of airplay. The Record Company continues to deliver more of their uniquely original Blues and Roots music.
