An In Depth Interview with Jake Tavill
If the soulful, empathetic lyrics and melodies of Marvin Gaye, Isaac Hayes, and Bill Withers had an illegitimate child with the complex, moving instrumentation of Parliament Funkadelic, it would result in the music of Jake Tavill. He voices his messages through honest, introspective lyrics working in tandem with an accompaniment that illustrates the deep emotions of the stories he tells.
At 20, he has studied music at Berklee College of Music, the Village East Conservatory, and is currently studying at NYU Tisch’s Clive Davis Dept. of Recorded Music. Jake plays frequently with his backing band, The Indigo Child Blues Band, in NYC and NJ, along with popular and classic venues all across the U.S. Jake loves writing and performing his music, but nothing makes him happier than having a personal connection with his audience.
