Standing Out Loud
Ruf Records
This is Alastair Greene’s new album set for release on 5/17. The album was recorded in two separate sessions. The longer Nashville Session was recorded between January 5th and January 9th, 2024 and includes eight songs. Recorded at the House Of Grease in Nashville, the album is co-produced by Alastair and JD Simo. Highlights include the title track, the lowdown Blues “Slow Burn”, and “Trouble Blues” with the lyric “woman I’m told, I need you to help carry the load.” Rounding out the band is bassist Todd Bolden; and drummer/percussionist Adam Abrashoff.
The second shorter session called the Austin session consists of two songs, “Temptation” and “Rusty Dagger” both written by Alastair and a cover of Canned Heat’s “Bullfrog Blues”. The latter classic was written by Frank Lenard Cook, Robert “The Bear” Hite Jr, Samuel Lawrence Taylor, Henry C. Vestine, and Alan Wilson.
Alastair is from southern California and was influenced by seventies guitarists Duane Allman and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He recorded his debut album “A Little Wiser” in 2001. His follow-up was “Bootleg: Live in LA” released in 2003. Alastair appeared on albums by Mitch Kasmar, Aynsley Dubar, and Frank Goldwasser before releasing “Walking In Circles” in 2009. In 2014 he recorded “Trouble At Your Door” on Eclecto Groove a subsidiary of Delta Groove Records, co-produced by Alastair and Executive Producer Randy Chortkoff. His last album was 2022’s “Alive In The New World” on Tab Benoit’s Whiskey Bayou Records.
Alastair thanks Thomas Ruf, Amy Brat, Debbie Davies, Walter Trout, and others who have helped him along the way. Alastair plays all guitars and takes all vocals. What is genuinely amazing is that these performances by Alastair are performed as a trio. This is the best trio I have ever heard and Alastair’s performance is the definition of Blues Rock.
