Making a Scene Presents an Interview with 63 Deluxe

The band, consisting of guitarist and vocalist Anthony Scott, bassist Bret Hann and drummer/vocalist Jack Thomson hope to propel the blues genre into a new contemporary realm in Australia. Born out of friendship and hardship, but continued through the love of music and expression, the guys in 63 Deluxe are bringing their take on the music they would want to hear. Taking influence from the likes of Matt Schofield, Jon Cleary, Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa and much more, the band aim to stay fresh and always push themselves musically to new directions, whilst still keeping roots to the blues.

Even in their brief rise , 63 Deluxe has already made a mark locally, captivating audiences with their dynamic performances in their debut year playing at the Port Noarlunga Blues Festival and the locally famed Thebarton Theatre alongside IronHorse and Vince Contarino. Since their inception in 2022, 63 Deluxe has released 6 singles, consistently gaining an online presence and dedicated followers. Their recent accolades include triumphing at the ARBA Memphis Blues Challenge, earning them a spot in the prestigious International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2025. They have also supported local stalwarts The Bluescasters and 2024 International Blues Challenge finalists The Honey Badgers.

As 2024 rolls on, the band and their followers anticipate the release of 63 Deluxe’s debut fulllength album November 2024, marking a milestone in their musical journey. With plans to venture to the USA for the International Blues Challenge, they also plan to also record new material. With such exciting things on the horizon, the band is poised for even greater success. The future shines brightly for 63 Deluxe, promising fans more electrifying music and continued growth in Australia and beyond.
